We are thrilled to announce the launch of our training application, a cutting-edge tool designed to empower our volunteers and onboard new members. This initiative aims to streamline the onboarding process, share valuable insights, and establish a consistent training protocol across all levels.
The App has the potential to be one of the biggest game changers in the field of captive elephant welfare, to help disseminate our methods into many more areas and countries. While we have previously relied on our training manuals, the App gives the added advantage of animation videos and being able to be downloaded for free on demand.
We entered into an agreement with the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, who very kindly provided us a Masters student in animation to assist us with creating our animations to instruct in our training methods.
There were a number of challenges in creating the App, which included:
- Making sure the animations were culturally appropriate across Asia.
- Distilling our training manual down to just a few core ideas.
- Ensuring it would be appropriate for varying levels of education.
Our group of training experts worked on the App over the year tirelessly to ensure the “Modern Training” app would make a kinder world for elephants. We are pleased to say it successfully launched and we will be closely monitoring feedback, so that eventually we can get to the stage of updating it not only content wise but with additional language supports as well.
